September Pub Night

Pub night is a way for new and old planning students to grab a drink, catch up with each other, and relax before the going gets tough with studio and everything else. We’ll be providing free appetizers too, so there’s no reason not to come! We can’t wait to see you there.

The PLAB/PLAD Welcome is an event held each year to welcome the incoming PLAB/PLAD students to the third year of the Planning Program. Returning students and professors alike are welcome to attend! Following the end of PLAB/PLAD introduction classes held over a two week period on August 24th, RAPS will lead the PLAB/PLAD class and professors from the planning program to the Library Pub, where a small social will occur. Snacks will be provided.

We look forward to seeing you on August 24th from 4:00pm – 6:00pm!
(For incoming first year students, this event is not part of your orientation on September 3rd).

Student Campus Groups Fair

The Student Campus Groups Fair is a yearly event where students can learn about Ryerson’s over 300 campus groups, and what they have to offer. Held along Gould Street and in the Quad from 11:00am until 4:00pm, RAPS will proudly take part. We want to make sure planning students know just what we have to offer in the coming year!

For the first time, RAPS is pleased to announce our participation in OpenStreetsTO this year! OpenStreetsTO is an event that opens up portions of Yonge and Bloor Streets to pedestrians to redefine what public space really is, and get people to enjoy and participate in the city they live in.

On August 16th and September 6th, from 8:00am-1:00pm RAPS will have a station set up at Bloor and Spadina, where we will hosting two events:

  1. Blackout poetry using planning policy.
  2. Drawing your neighbourhood from memory.

You can get involved in several different ways:

  • As a participant by showing up and taking in the event
  • As an evaluator by signing up here (free snacks, t-shirt, and swag!)
  • As an OpenStreetsTO Volunteer by signing up here

RAPS Orientation

The RAPS Planning Orientation for first year students will take place on September 2nd from 10am to 1:30pm, meeting in the South Bond Building. The RAPS orientation is a great way to get to know the people studying planning at Ryerson, as well as to explore campus and the surrounding area of Downtown Toronto.

This year we will be continuing the tradition of the Amazing Planning Race. Students will be instructed to travel on foot around and near the Ryerson campus, taking photographs and gathering objects worth points. The team with the most points will win a prize, and lunch will be provided to all!
