Lecture Title: How to ease the transition from school to your first job in planning
Matt Reid is an Associate and Urban Designer/Planner at Brook McIlroy, and the author of the online mentoring blog planforth.net. Matt specializes in the preparation of context-specific plans and guidelines for a range of clients, including municipalities, government agencies, universities, and private developers. At Brook McIlroy, Matt has engaged in a variety of projects, including urban design guidelines, mobility hub studies, avenue studies, campus master plans, secondary plans, peer reviews, and public consultation and visioning exercises.
It’s Matt’s goal to provide students with a practical understanding of the day-to-day life of a planner, answer questions and bridge the gap between what students learn in school, and how this planning gig works in real life. A mentor if you will- the Splinter to your Michelangelo.
*Planning matters only. He’d love to be your life coach for all things, but he’s probably not qualified.
